Besides a general introduction and explanation of the momentum theory, the book also deals with specialized topics, such as diffusor-augmented rotors, wind tunnel corrections, tip corrections, and combined momentum/vortex theory for design of wind turbine rotors. The book contains new as well as already published material, and the author has strived to put the material into a new and more consistent context than what usually is found in similar text books.

The book is primarily intended for researchers and experienced students with a basic knowledge in fluid mechanics wishing to understand and expand their knowledge on wind turbine aerodynamics. The War of 1812 was a defining period in the history of Tennessee. At the commencement of the War, most military action was focused on the border with Canada, but the large distance between the fighting and Tennessee forces rendered Tennessee's participation impractical, if not impossible. However, when President James Madison requested Tennessee's assistance to defend the "Lower Country," record numbers of Tennesseans volunteered, earning the unique and deserving nickname, "The Volunteer State." This work is divided into two sections...an alphabetical listing of Tennesseans who were Officers in the War of 1812, and an alphabetical listing of the Enlisted Men in the War of 1812. Included for each entry are the name, rank, regimental commander, company commander, branch of service, and, where shown, place of residence of the soldier. In addition, the authors also included other information of interest, such as date wounded or died...if while in service...whether deserted or absent with leave, or if discharged for inability to serve. There are approximately 33,000 individual soldiers documented, plus the regimental and company commanders' names for each soldier.

This is the history of Air Intercept (AI) radar and its use in night-fighter aircraft in defense of the UK and in the protection of RAF bomber forces. It is set against the political, military, economic and technological background of world events.

Beginning in 1935, it describes the events leading up to the creation of the Air Ministry Research Establishment and the work of the Establishment’s Airborne Group under Dr Edwin Bowen and the building of the first 1.5 meter AI Mk 1 and later versions that saw use during the winter Blitz in Blenheim night-fighters and Mosquito during the Baedeker Raids.

It covers the introduction of cent metric technology at the Telecommunications Research Establishment and the creation of cent metric AI (Mks VII – IX) and their installation in the Beaufighter and later marks of the Mosquito. It describes the creation of the Radiation Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the development the SCR 720 radar and its adoption by the RAF.

The final section describes the Cold War and the development of jet-powered night-fighters and the changes in the air defense situation with the introduction of strategic bombers by the Soviet Union and the atomic bomb.

Happily, the new edition will make its debut at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center’s Legacy Series Exhibit featuring Frank Mechau, scheduled from March 4 to May 15, 2016.
